Mnemonic to Remember the Planets

The eight planets in our Solar System, from closest to the sun to the farthest are Mercury, Venus, Earth,Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune.

Source Parent Bodies of Meteorites by Class

Asteroidal

  1. Acalpulcoite: Unknown but likely same as lodranite though hypothesized to derive from a shallower region within the parent body
  2. Angrite: 3819 Robinson or  289 Nenetta
  3. Aubrite: 3103 Eger, the only known E-class near-Earth asteroid (NEA)
  4. Carbonaceous Ornans (CO): 221 Eos
  5. Carbonaceous Rumuruti (CR): 2 Pallas
  6. HED (Howardite, Eucrite, Diogenite): 4 Vesta (largest asteroid in the asteroid belt and likely source of most HED meteorites)
  7. Iron meteorites: M-Class asteroids
  8. Lodranite: Unknown but likely same as acapulcoites though hypothesized to derive from a deeper region within the parent body
  9. Ordinary Chondrite H-type: Hebe

Planetary

  1. Lunar: Earth’s moon
  2. Martian: Mars
